Tim and Renée Richter, Owners
Tim and Renee grew up in the Burlington area before leaving for college and starting their careers – Tim as a jet mechanic turned landscaper, and Renee as a nuclear medicine technologist. They met after college in 2001 and were married in 2004. As they searched for a home in the countryside they loved so much, they bought “The Morning Glory Farm” in 2008, where Renee had wonderful childhood memories of buying flowers with her mom.
Over the years, Tim renovated the barn (on the farm) for his landscaping business. Once the barn’s natural beauty was restored, the Richters began hosting small get-togethers with family and friends. In 2013, they hosted a wedding for a friend who couldn’t find the perfect rustic barn for her dream day.
With that, The Rustic Barn at Prairie Gardens was born.
Two years later, in the spring of 2015, a friend and local realtor sent the Richters the listing for an even larger property just a mile from their home at The Rustic Barn. On a lark, Renee set up a showing – and left speechless.
With its gorgeous setting along the peaceful banks of the White River and the beautiful 180-year-old barn, the 50-acre property was a perfect complement to the intimate beauty of The Rustic Barn at Prairie Gardens. The Landing became the Richters’ second event property and the premier “rustic elegance” barn venue in Southeast Wisconsin.
“We look forward to sharing the joy our family has experienced here at 1841 Farms and Vineyard, and the memories to be made with yours.”
